Arts Center

A home for creativity.

The physical heart of TFAA — a 350-seat performing arts center currently under renovation. The Arts Center will serve as the hub for all divisions, housing performances, exhibitions, rehearsals, and community gatherings.

💰 Stipend Eligibility

To be eligible for a stipend, performers must be legally authorized to work in the state of Ohio. Stipends and contracts are provided when applicable — not all roles are paid.

What to Expect at Auditions

🎭 Murder Mystery Auditions

  • Brief interview with the director
  • Improvisational character work
  • Bring your boldest, most creative energy

🎭 Play Auditions

  • Prepare a 30–60 second monologue
  • Cold reads from the script
  • Show your range and emotional depth

🎵 Musical Auditions

  • Prepare 30–60 seconds of a song in the style of the show (not from the show), performed a cappella
  • Cold reads from the script
  • Movement combination taught by a choreographer
  • Dress comfortably for movement

🎵 Choosing Your Audition Song

Pick a song that shows off your personality and fits the style of the show you're auditioning for — but don't sing a song from the show itself. Perform it a cappella (no backing track). Directors want to see you, not the "right" answer. Need help choosing? Reach out to Dani at d.hummelsass@thetfaa.org.

TFAA is committed to equity in casting. We encourage performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, abilities, and disabilities to audition. Our stage is stronger because of the diversity of voices that fill it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Auditions are attended by the show's Director, Producer, and possibly TFAA board members. They're friendly and want to see you succeed!

Not all roles are paid, but stipends and contracts are provided when applicable. Stipend eligibility requires the ability to work in Ohio.

Dress comfortably and be prepared for movement, especially for musical auditions. Avoid overly restrictive clothing. You want to look put-together but be able to move freely.

Yes! You can indicate your preferred role(s) at auditions. Directors appreciate knowing your interests, though final casting decisions are at their discretion.

Yes — production calendars are provided at auditions. You'll be asked about blackout dates so the team can plan around your availability. Community events are part of the commitment.

Virtual auditions are sometimes accepted on a case-by-case basis. Details will be provided in the audition materials. Reach out to the team if you have specific needs.
